WELCOME TO MFAC
underline

Mayor NewsomAs Mayor of San Francisco, I am determined to explore new ideas and approaches to solving San Francisco's most difficult problems. The San Francisco business community can and must reach into their great wealth of talent and expertise to address the issues that face us, if we are to set the City on a proper course.

In the late 1970s, faced with the belt tightening required by the onset of Proposition 13, a group of business leaders joined with Mayor George Moscone to form the Municipal Fiscal Advisory Committee (MFAC). Today, MFAC continues to provides a central place where civic-minded business organizations provide pro-bono assistance to the Mayor and city departments, helping them achieve their missions with considerably slimmer resources. After assisting Mayors Moscone and Feinstein address the major challenges presented by Proposition 13, MFAC has continued to assist each succeeding San Francisco mayor solve problems, create efficiencies, and better serve the public.

As Mayor, I am working very closely with MFAC to leverage, wherever possible, the expertise, energy and civic spirit that exists within our business community. MFAC has played a critical role helping my administration make this city run smoother and smarter.

I look forward to the continued support of MFAC to make a real difference in the way this city manages its business. I hope to see more of our business leaders participate in City government by joining MFAC.

Sincerely,

Gavin Newsom, Mayor
